| Collection Instructions: |
Patient prep: A minimum of 12 hours fasting is required. Fasting morning collection 8-10 am. (Diurnal variations cause elevated levels at night).
Allow specimen to completely clot. Centrifuge for 15 minutes and transfer the separated serum to a plastic transfer tube. Specify specimen type (serum) on transfer tube. Freeze serum as soon as possible. |

| Additional Information: |
Dietary supplements containing biotin may interfere in assays and may skew results to be either falsely high or falsely low. For patients receiving the recommended daily doses of biotin, draw samples at least 8 hours following the last biotin supplementation. For patients on mega-doses of biotin supplements, draw samples at least 72 hours following the last biotin supplementation. |

| Clinical Significance: |
