Collection Instructions:

Have the patient collect a random urine into a clean, dry container. Refrigerate urine specimen if testing cannot be immediately performed.

Urine with preservative

Limitations:

Clinitest should be performed on fresh urine since glucose and other reducing sugars are consumed by bacteria.

Additional Information:

Reducing sugars other than glucose that are detected by Clinitest tablets are fructose, lactose, pentose and galactose.

Clinical Significance: This test is done on children < 1 years of age to detect metabolic diseases.
